<br />
<br />Today I created a new tie, and I named it the Sparkler... here is why:<div>
<br /></div><div>I worked at a fireworks warehouse this summer in Denver CO called Olde Glory Fireworks. It was a really awesome experience, especially after we closed on the fourth, because we got to light off a bunch of stuff! We sold all types of Sparklers, the Neon were my favorite- so hopefully soon I can get some Neon Sseko Ties and make my own Neon Sparklers! Haha! Today I randomly threw on a t-shirt, only to notice it was my Olde Glory T-shirt! </div><div>Sparklers are my favorite firework, especially because they are very colorful, and you can make any shape or design out of them by twirling and twisting... hmmm, sounds familiar... they sound like Sseko's!</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Tonight for dinner we had my Mama's Tamale 'slop', and (also my Mama's) Black bean and corn salad. Of course I forgot that my Mom has always cooked for a large family (8 of us at one point) plus friends, extended family, neighbors, and exchange students. So I made the whole thing... for 2 people.... needless to say- we have two casserole dishes full of yummy Tamale Slop! Hahah! I only wish I knew someone, a neighbor or something who could benefit from it, I guess we will just have it as leftovers! For the next week!! I want to check in with my Mom before I post any of her recipes, so I won't post it tonight- but do know that it is really easy to make, and super delicious! </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Good night from the depth of the 'pan'- Lawton OKLAHOMA!</div>Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2230874567570304234.post-26694333129244965292011-08-22T18:24:00.000-07:002011-08-22T18:35:40.049-07:00Day Eight<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_5_ZODXBQa1jmAH4or1kGifoG0cdzUVv4rLtgsJJ-biGbEUg7reHte_u273sI7O2AdF_lz4cWDfu97XddSD6k3PMPWvzE3su5Ax41oEyADuqGKXCT-3xgPTGynhxJsGdFUgh9Xaz3kvQ/s1600/bc5621d708efb33df6d89b928402d9490ee31a43_wmeg_00001.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 113px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_5_ZODXBQa1jmAH4or1kGifoG0cdzUVv4rLtgsJJ-biGbEUg7reHte_u273sI7O2AdF_lz4cWDfu97XddSD6k3PMPWvzE3su5Ax41oEyADuqGKXCT-3xgPTGynhxJsGdFUgh9Xaz3kvQ/s200/bc5621d708efb33df6d89b928402d9490ee31a43_wmeg_00001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5643858687485210882" /></a>
<br />Thursday I had work all day- seriously- 11:15 am to 11:15 pm. I didn't get the chance to wear my Sseko's or cook :( <div>Friday I wore my Ssekos and made dessert because we went to a friend's house for dinner! I made apple crisp! YUM!</div><div>I wore my Ssekos over the weekend in two new styles!</div><div>Today was day 8 of my duo challenge!</div><div>I wore a new style of Ssekos to the post office and while cooking dinner!</div><div>
<br /></div><div>For dinner we had my mom's teriyaki chicken, rice and salad! </div><div>
<br /></div>Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2230874567570304234.post-45301215494866759672011-08-17T19:13:00.000-07:002011-08-17T19:32:51.159-07:00Yum!!!
<br />
<br />So we just scarfed down the last of our dessert... Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwiches, and now I'm writing really quick so I can head off to bed!<div>
<br /></div><div>Today was day 3 of my duo challenge, I wore my favorite tie- simple twisted slip on with a bow. I crafted this style the day I got my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Sseko's</span> in the mail! I was so excited for everything that was attached to the meaning of that package in the mail. I purchased my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Sseko's</span> along with pairs for my bridal party to wear in the wedding... so this package meant that the big day was getting closer! I remember sitting on my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">roomie</span>/bridesmaid's bedroom floor (because she had the big mirror) while we dug through the box full of fun colored straps, beautiful <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">sseko</span> soles, and some amazing necklaces (from the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">february</span> 'love' promotion). My favorite thing about wearing my <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Sseko's</span> for the first time was the idea that while I was in college, I could help another young woman get to college, simply by purchasing and wearing some amazing sandals.</div>
<br /><div>
<br /></div><div>As you may have seen on <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">facebook</span>, I went to get a pedicure today, because frankly- if I am going to be wearing these <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Sseko's</span> for a whole month and taking pictures of my feet they have</div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdapfbiIT6GWIn3goAIMvXw_swSXmC4CAJycilUxhD0p3nZRwwX1utn4IvVFfUX-fIHMtb-xRlMgveabx9rfpu3V6n2b85B_1v56wFSZelwPa6fjpcnGKNjJP1GymmP9ZbFR3w6FhgX_8/s200/505b6ee6f949e2498706ddad848c38366151b947_wmeg_00001.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5642017286318118866" style="float: right; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 113px; " /></div><div> to be pretty!! <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Haha</span>! While getting this pedicure I had the opportunity to tell my friend about <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Sseko's</span> and how fun they were to wear and style! After the pedicure the man tried to help me put on my shoes but he just kind of looked at them with a confused face. I told him that I could put them on and then he watched me and said, "looks hard." NOPE! (well maybe with wet toenails). I love the slip on styles of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Sseko</span>, because they really are easy to wear and take off (not that I don't love the tied ones).</div><div>
<br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCQQ-fYSH3ik2REKJ57pBOxbuLrmaNBoG2r3Y8DNA6oJ-R9EHJEaWHxVVT3OeRu9bbitMjkBkD_O6yjWaSqnW9Bccj2E9YaOr91vs3Kfu1VttR1kAo7qvV2SQpDdNcXG5_dLnUFlow1yA/s200/2011-08-17_20-56-30_851.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5642016979304274098" style="float: right; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 113px; " /></div><div>Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Gallon of Peanut Butter or Chocolate Ice Cream</div><div>Peanut Butter Cookies</div><div>Mini Chocolate Chips</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Place a scoop of ice cream on the cookie, then place another cookie on top, press together and roll in chocolate chips. Place in freezer for 5-10 minutes so the chips stick better and the ice cream isn't so melted. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>(adapted from a Better Homes and Gardens Recipe)</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Having fun tying and trying!</div><div>Good Night! </div>Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2230874567570304234.post-38568369065068968942011-08-16T18:46:00.000-07:002011-08-16T18:59:33.784-07:00French DipToday is day two of my duo challenge!<div>
<br /></div><div>I spent my evening relaxing with my hubby, my bunny, and a good book; The Help. My Sseko Design sandals were styled with Matilda's braided slip on flip flop. They were great for loafing around the house tonight! There is a picture on the Sseko Designs Facebook Page- if you haven't already checked them out you should!</div><div>
<br /></div><div>For dinner we had QUICK French Dip Sandwiches and salad. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>French Dip Sandwich</div><div>
<br /></div><div>1 package roast beef lunch meat</div><div>rolls or buns</div><div>cheddar cheese</div><div>onion soup mix (we used lipton)</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Put soup mix in sauce pan with 3-4 cups water, boil, then simmer to heat. Place roast beef on plate into microwave for 2 minutes. Toast rolls, and slice cheese. Then assemble sandwiches.</div><div>
<br /></div><div>
<br /></div><div>I know this is nothing gourmet but... dinner was ready in less than 5 minutes!! We both really enjoyed the sandwiches and had some left over meat, and onion soup- not sure what we will do with that yet but I'll figure it out. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Looking forward to more ties and tries tomorrow!! Good Night!</div><div>

I decided that I would embark on the Sseko Designs 30 Ways in 30 Days Tie Challenge, and also cook up some new culinary skills by cooking one new recipe per week day (weekends reserved for easy stuff and going out). I will be blogging about the new ties and new tries this month!</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" ><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 14px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">This new challenge duo was inspired by my intense need for a new hobby. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 14px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">Although I am not entirely sure this will be it, I am giving it a try. We dyed easter eggs and went to see our friend Gray who was dressed up like the easter bunny in the mall!</div>Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2230874567570304234.post-67866377070683650012010-03-29T21:43:00.000-07:002010-03-29T21:48:32.908-07:00South Dakota<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjh2o8k4v_N58wg1yrLV4jVSuX9X2bBqSMAyyHQOBptjwQHH2ayC4Fk1gHC0mI5RuJAiyjF7sTKOmtl_YHj3XImKvh-pmaR565o-ZFafZgoJ-m9EnBD1FeRlxCLhGDK0qssSZj9z9djDY/s1600/d8.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjh2o8k4v_N58wg1yrLV4jVSuX9X2bBqSMAyyHQOBptjwQHH2ayC4Fk1gHC0mI5RuJAiyjF7sTKOmtl_YHj3XImKvh-pmaR565o-ZFafZgoJ-m9EnBD1FeRlxCLhGDK0qssSZj9z9djDY/s200/d8.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454284165780472706" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3L6q5LccFoy2swQyVuvywUMeZTry_HLwJwMkewdyvdMWmuPwsUK07vliwM9zVas4mOv1Hwbr-Bx_7FxqvsfCGwTeroTX2WsHulu_8e_ko3fbhMoZHpZGlOzNwhCGxD9h7W5PcvMPMlt4/s1600/d7.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3L6q5LccFoy2swQyVuvywUMeZTry_HLwJwMkewdyvdMWmuPwsUK07vliwM9zVas4mOv1Hwbr-Bx_7FxqvsfCGwTeroTX2WsHulu_8e_ko3fbhMoZHpZGlOzNwhCGxD9h7W5PcvMPMlt4/s200/d7.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454284039062742402" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZJ9YwDVZuB3qbBgTjVBLtU2-mDstX9aobeXTx9BVj52W-qxYIacwB_pPJbDChe1atzNZup2JxEucBsZ2GBMaZyfWWqvHY5NunrIuzH_Ppeb7v27nI31M4up79iKkA9gEpxBxbFi2l2Y/s1600/d6.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZJ9YwDVZuB3qbBgTjVBLtU2-mDstX9aobeXTx9BVj52W-qxYIacwB_pPJbDChe1atzNZup2JxEucBsZ2GBMaZyfWWqvHY5NunrIuzH_Ppeb7v27nI31M4up79iKkA9gEpxBxbFi2l2Y/s200/d6.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454283953434490994" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj52apIUx_1UQkVS1R7zLng77oQF4ETwyCYssRMBPlYvQK3OTzkZdaPBo17ebugz30xqqHfT66ILoKf_ceI60AU_7v6FRqYqNAxZ2aiTizkFJXBGTRiCs-HGc8olN0Vgy49dXVFtf3ZsMM/s1600/d5.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj52apIUx_1UQkVS1R7zLng77oQF4ETwyCYssRMBPlYvQK3OTzkZdaPBo17ebugz30xqqHfT66ILoKf_ceI60AU_7v6FRqYqNAxZ2aiTizkFJXBGTRiCs-HGc8olN0Vgy49dXVFtf3ZsMM/s200/d5.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454283797676131538" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDF8SGDzCH_3BXpX8S3rjxb2VxWwAmTz2u5KwUI8tnfjSZeLzaw1t56KH8We2dcY3p6ENytZB6imWiV2UZNnmRZzmIyEG4rc4EjmO_yQB6Q5Ga-fUcH6mKrr0zmTFHfG0vg-P_-KzdJwM/s1600/d4.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDF8SGDzCH_3BXpX8S3rjxb2VxWwAmTz2u5KwUI8tnfjSZeLzaw1t56KH8We2dcY3p6ENytZB6imWiV2UZNnmRZzmIyEG4rc4EjmO_yQB6Q5Ga-fUcH6mKrr0zmTFHfG0vg-P_-KzdJwM/s200/d4.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454283726970258018" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf88P_916FJDQCF_2K-sOFPtQRNJpCwfOv4nq_naEzfZLzPdtYlRzN-DUIB6aeWh6GiHSoc3crsWrvhyphenhyphenaIKNGTNRsWm4xboX_tzaFd_NrEed9rNXX6whJzBmja8ihvWu4jglgpKGYvyAA/s1600/d2.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf88P_916FJDQCF_2K-sOFPtQRNJpCwfOv4nq_naEzfZLzPdtYlRzN-DUIB6aeWh6GiHSoc3crsWrvhyphenhyphenaIKNGTNRsWm4xboX_tzaFd_NrEed9rNXX6whJzBmja8ihvWu4jglgpKGYvyAA/s200/d2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454283588544899858" /></a><br />Cole, Kelley and I went to South Dakota to visit Abby. I have been back from Costa Rica for just over a week now. It was such an amazing experience! There is nothing like finishing school and taking off for two weeks to a tropical paradise!<br /></div><div>The first "week" we spent time at El Castillo Inn, it is this small hotel up on top of a hill overlooking the ocean! It is so gorgeous there and very very relaxing! We went to Ventanas Beach, Chels and I went to Dominical- a small surfer town- and watched the sunset! I bought some small things in Dominical the next day, a sarong/dress thing with a blue morpho (the costa rican butterfly) on it, fish scale earings, a vase and bracelet.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjrlxENJoRBoJaNoOujLKvAGVnC9v2cwH5q9xs2NGQyU-Z2lux7EmlcO9q1nmSAYEt8O2fi7aOx3QdzuFe4m_EQCtmlqBXTxkhkDrjMr_tz0k1IWQfUHzNADK_dI-HPs5N3Y34fSeA98/s1600-h/haley+costa+rica+136.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306152800129273794" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjrlxENJoRBoJaNoOujLKvAGVnC9v2cwH5q9xs2NGQyU-Z2lux7EmlcO9q1nmSAYEt8O2fi7aOx3QdzuFe4m_EQCtmlqBXTxkhkDrjMr_tz0k1IWQfUHzNADK_dI-HPs5N3Y34fSeA98/s200/haley+costa+rica+136.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><br /><div>We went up to Finca Bellavista to visit Dad and went ziplining to the treehouse! Saw dad's first property and hiked the road back. We actually went back the next day and zip lined again on our own, with no guide!! Friday we went fishing with some guys we met from the Finca, had lots of fun that night cooking it up and hanging out with the guys.<br /><br /></div><br /><br /><div>The second "week"</div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgxE2HUKgZznMh4wBySTSFCnJdBkptrSy8_jvzUomJMpKRRPtXKY3CRX1-79P41ZJ8oAIaLGFnPRNAZyc98WE3w9-1iBfb-UYfPYmxCi0U1nImNrtqOgLkSwVHFDhrqg0sslgev4jFaVk/s1600-h/haley+costa+rica+200.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306154593239246674" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgxE2HUKgZznMh4wBySTSFCnJdBkptrSy8_jvzUomJMpKRRPtXKY3CRX1-79P41ZJ8oAIaLGFnPRNAZyc98WE3w9-1iBfb-UYfPYmxCi0U1nImNrtqOgLkSwVHFDhrqg0sslgev4jFaVk/s200/haley+costa+rica+200.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Saturday we headed out to the beach to Poorman's Paradise. I basically wouldnt mind living there the rest of my life, it truely is PARADISE! We had my birthday party on the beach, with music, dancing and FIREWORKS! Very cool way to celebrate your 18th! I went on an ATV to Drake's Bay one afternoon and had to learn how to actually drive it, while stuck on the bank of a river! haha! I saw a monkey with its baby while we were driving back.!<br /></div><br /><br /><div>One day we went to Isla Cano and Chels snorkeled, and I watched, haha, I dont reall<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc-BJGY4EjW5zHqIsaBlsWwCpEFSV-aCqxIjeb258cgvX65CZD25kOIECVzlf7TmwZilCH9gFIEpte1hZNZJU-U9A8lOCNvWhjLzGH2JIasxqqpZbtwHn701YTxHHuBOKDaP0a5yQ2Yvo/s1600-h/haley+costa+rica+265.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306154845808167346" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc-BJGY4EjW5zHqIsaBlsWwCpEFSV-aCqxIjeb258cgvX65CZD25kOIECVzlf7TmwZilCH9gFIEpte1hZNZJU-U9A8lOCNvWhjLzGH2JIasxqqpZbtwHn701YTxHHuBOKDaP0a5yQ2Yvo/s200/haley+costa+rica+265.JPG" border="0" /></a>y like to snorkel. I caught a small Yellow Fin Tuna maybe 15 lbs. MY FIRST FISH! We ate the fish for dinner, had it prepared as sashimi, ceviche, and grilled tuna. So good! We had a bonfire on the beach one night. Chelsea and I headed back to Sierpe, where Chels lives, on Wednesday so we could have a sisters day. We started out at Grand Central Station and took pictures of the huge building. Next we found our way to St. Patrick's Cathedral and walked in on the end of noon mass. It was an amazing experience, the building is massive on the inside, bigger than any church I've been to, and the service was pretty cool. We then wandered along 5th ave. and went shopping in H&M! omg I love that store! We went to Saks and then headed towards Carnegie Hall. I sang out front and had mom take my picture, so I could say I sang at Carnegie Hall too (like my friends in choir are going to do this spring). We then hopped back on a train to Brooklyn and went to find dinner, we walked the Brooklyn Promenade, which is like a walkway on the river with great views of downtown Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. We found a great little place called Grimaldi's Pizza and I had the best piece of pizza in my life! I love new york style pizza! It was even better than Celestino's in Chico!<br /><br />Day Two- We went to Macy's department store! It is huge! I got a new purse, two shirts, and very lost. Mom and I then headed downtown to The World Trade Center site, it was very sad to see the huge hole left from the attacks. We wandered around and found Wall street, saw the stock exchange and some interesting characters around in the street. One was a street evangelist, who we talked to for a minute and got a picture with, he was pretty cool, and the other weird thing was this lady standing in front of the statue of George Washington wearing a white mask, black shirt with words "arrest bush" and a white sign stating "GREED KILLS". We then met Bob at the subway station and headed to the water front for dinner, I had a Nathan's hot dog. We also went to Times Square at night.<br /><br />Day Three- Today we went to the Statue of Liberty! I was born and raised in Chico, California and just two years ago I moved to Oregon with my parents, leaving behind siblings, friends and great mentors. I grew up going to church and Sunday school so I have known Jesus as my savior since I was a small child. I have had my share of struggles and joyous times throughout my relationship with the Lord. But the past two years I felt like something was missing from that relationship and I wanted a closer relationship with God. God helped me realize that in order to have that closer relationship with Him I needed to have complete trust and faith in Him. He also showed me that He couldn’t do the work He desired in my heart unless I had that faith.<br />Matthew 17:20 says “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”<br />Mateo Diesisiete: veinte “Porque ustedes tienen tan poca fe- les respondio’-. Les aseguro que si tienen fe tan pequen~a como un grano de mostaza, podra’n decirle a esta montan~a: ‘Trasla’date de aqui para alla’’, y se transladara’.. Para ustedes nada sera’ imposible<br />In the past year I have learned a lot about stepping out in faith and watching the good things God does with that faith. Even just this past month I saw the benefit of stepping out in my faith because two of my good friends accepted Christ as their Savior! And even with this trip to Mexico I had to have more faith. I held back from signing up because I didn’t think I would be able to raise enough money to go. I showed my trust in Him by signing up and God showed His faithfulness by providing more than enough money! He truly showed me that nothing was impossible if you had faith.<br />I want to leave you with one of my favorite passages from the Bible, Hebrews 11:1, it says that “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”<br />Hebreos once: uno “Ahora bien, la fe es la garanti’a de lo que se espera, la certeza de lo que no se ve.”Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2230874567570304234.post-91306263029921191182008-08-13T14:31:00.000-07:002008-08-13T14:32:55.436-07:00Mexico 2008<p class="MsoNormal">Dear Friends and Family,</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">I first of all want to praise God for all the wonderful things He did in my life while I was in Mexico. I also want to thank you for supporting me with prayer and funds. I know that my trip wouldn’t have even happened if it weren’t for you. I pray that God will bless your life like you have blessed mine. In Mexico we learned a phrase in Spanish, Gloria Dios! Which means glory to God! To me this phrase means that in everything we do we should give the glory to God, because He is the one who made it happen.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">Each morning I spent time reflecting, praying, and reading. I sat on a ledge that overlooked most of Ensenada. To the left there was a small hill. On the hill there sat three electrical poles, but to me they were three crosses. They reminded me daily of God’s great love and the sacrifices he made for me. Each day had its own set of struggles but when I sat on that ledge every morning God prepared me for the day with peace and patience. </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">The first week we spent in Mexico we built a house for the family of Jose. He and his family knew a lot of English which made it a lot easier to communicate. He had two daughters and a son. His youngest was a girl named Linda, she was 11 years old and very funny. We spent a lot of time joking, talking, and laughing. Linda and I made friendship bracelets, and painted our nails together. Because there were 22 of us working on one small house, there wasn’t always a job to be done, so I was able to minister in a different way, by hanging out and loving on Linda.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">On Sunday morning, we went to the small church right down the street from where we stayed. I went up front, and gave my testimony in Spanish. It was really amazing to be able to tell my story to people who speak a different language and for them to be able to understand me without a translator! I was really nervous because some of the words I said were tough to pronounce but God gave me the courage to go up and speak.<span style=""> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">The second week we spent running a bible school for the kids in the village. It was very cool to see little kids learning a bible verse and being rewarded with a new pencil. I told the story of Jonah and the big fish to the kids, and taught them that they should obey God’s commands the first time around. Also that week in the afternoon some of the group spent time tiling the floor of the church. It took a long time to get it done and you had to work on your hands and knees but the result and the joy of the people when they saw that we had provided a floor for their church was way more than worth it! <span style=""> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in;">“Three things will last forever- faith, hope and love- and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13. I think this verse really sums up my mission trip well. God showed me even more about faith this trip. He revealed to me a passion and a hope for things of the future, and gave me a deeper love for him.</p>Haleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07224407801121774040noreply@blogger.com2
